Rugby, Scooch, and Being Sicky

No post yesterday - spent all day at the field in Waimea watching Rugby. It was a beautiful "typically" Waimea day, cool in the morning, warmed up slightly in the afternoon, cold again, rainy, sunny, then a downpour just as we were packed up and pulling away from the field. Would have to say being in the bi-polar weather all day is probably what got me feeling sick last night - sore throat, over all feelings of yuckiness. Calista was complaining of the same, so she and I stayed home today while everyone else journeyed on to Kona for meeting.

What I forgot to mention is that Kale, feeling the need for companionship?, bought a puppy (there was a family selling some at the field yesterday) and we welcomed Scooch to the family. He is a mix breed, Pitbull and something else - there were numerous guesses as to what he is mixed with because no one was quite sure. The parents are hunting dogs, which are generally what we refer to as "Poi" dogs, Mutts in standard terms. So, Cali and I (mostly Cali) spent the day babysitting this Kolohe little guy, who settled in nicely in our home before being whisked off to Ninoole this evening to be introduced to his real home. I like this, enjoying the cutie during the day and then sending it home at night. Now I know how the Uncles feel about their nieces, and grand parents about their grand babies. :)

Tomorrow it's back to school for the girls and big guy, finally a full week of school. We forget what it's like to have school Monday thru Friday, so I'm interested to see how we fare. :)

It's Aloha Friday, no work 'til Monday...doodoobeedoo..doodoobeedoobeedoobeedoo..

(Just a little bit o' fun before the weekend!) :-D

These are excuse notes from parents (with their original spelling), collected by schools from all over the country:

Please excuse Lisa for being absent. She was sick and I had her shot.

Dear School: Please exscuse John being absent on Jan. 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, and also 33.

John has been absent because he had two teeth taken out of his face.

Carlos was absent yesterday because he was playing football. He was hurt in the growing part.

Chris will not be in school cus he has an acre in his side.

Please excuse Ray from school. He has very loose vowels.

Please excuse Pedro from being absent yesterday. He had diahre dyrea direathe the runs.

Irving was absent yesterday because he missed his bust.

Please excuse Jimmy for being. It was his father's fault.

I kept Billie home because she had to go Christmas shopping because I don't know what size she wears.

Please excuse Jennifer for missing school yesterday. We forgot to get the Sunday paper off the porch, and when we found it Monday, we thought it was Sunday.

My daughter was absent yesterday because she was tired. She spent a weekend with the Marines.

Thoughts on a Thursday Evening

Saw a gnarly accident yesterday morning, and decided I would NEVER live next to a main road. Ever.

Had a beautiful anniversary breakfast with my beautiful Hubby at Hawaiian Style Cafe. It was nice being there in the really early AM, observing the regulars; quite a different scene from the normal rush of malahini during brunch/lunch hour. We shared a portuguese sausage/ham omelet covered in gravy, a side of hash browns (yes, Hubby's choice - you know me and my RICE), and who could forget...the monster sized pancakes. Yuuuummmmm.

Loved the ride home with the girls today, and the time it provides for useless conversations. Today's went like this:
Calista - "Mom, we rehearsed our body parts play today."
Me - "Oh cool! Do you know what part you are playing yet?"
Kawena - "I hope Sissy is the heart, cuz I like my heart."
Me - "Oh yes, I love your heart too, honey."
Calista - "The heart would be cool! But we don't know yet. I hope I'm the brain."
Me - "Brain would be awesome! I wonder who is going to play the butt?"
Calista - "MOM! There is no butt in our play."
Me - "Well, there should be. It's an important part of our bodies. Without it, we couldn't stand or walk!"
Calista - "Ok, if someone needed to be the butt, it should be _ _. _." (identity of Calista's teacher protected)

I know her reasoning is innocent - her teacher would play the part with the most dignity (if there is such a thing, when it comes to this) and has the confidence to pull it off. But I thought it was hilarious.

:-D

Have a great Friday all!

'Twas 8 years ago...

Little Heart of Reno Chapel, Reno NV - February 17, 2002

Today, Terry and I celebrate 8 years of wedded bliss (well, mostly bliss). I will say this journey did not start out as one that, shall we say, earned the immediate blessings of those who love us. And for valid reason - we met just 4 short months before taking the plunge. But as my Mama later told me, "Keala, my dear. You would have done it no other way." To that, I smile, and would have to agree.

You are everything to me, Terry. Thank you for loving me.

Presidents Day

So, here I am, keeping my word.

Cheese. As in cheeseburgers and hot fudge sundaes at the park! We had so much fun taking jumping pictures - Calista paired with my iPhone did an exceptional job of capturing at just the right moment, & I was lucky enough to get one good one of her.

Smile! And enjoy life.

Ok, so how do I go about this?

Hi to my very few-in-number fellow bloggers! The verdict is in - Facebook will eventually become a fading memory, and I will do my best to keep you all updated on this blog. My fear of boring everyone to death with my less than creative writing skills will need to be conquered, and hopefully the progress I make will be notable as the year goes on. :-D The headache of uploading pictures to a blog, compared to the ease of uploading entire memory cards to Facebook (no names mentioned) will force me to share just a few of my favorites, which I find a positive change!

This change comes as the theme of my life is shifting towards simplicity. Traditional correspondence. Purging. Downsizing. Quality, not quantity. And any other synonyms to the previous adjectives you may come up with. (Sis, I know you have some suggestions?)

Anyways, I'll get some new pics posted - and look forward to seeing you here more often! <3 , peace, and chicken grease - Mrs. C

Just a teaser...to blog, or not to blog? That is the question.
