Hawai'i--Not A Place For Wimps!

So, the last few days have been exciting, to say the least!

1. Hurricane Flossie, which was set to hit Hawai'i as a Category 4 dissipated right before it reached us.
2. Earthquake with 5.4 magnitude.
3. And we are now on Tsunami watch!

Whew!

Monkey Monkey

I decided to be an early bird this year and order
Kawena's and Calista's costumes already, since they always sell out of the one's I want. Now, of course, she'll live in it, and it'll be useless by Halloween. ;P Anyhow, enjoy these preview pics!

Job Title, Job Schmitle

The other day at work, we had a really interesting conversation about people who hold high positions in their careers. We talked about the ones that are "semi" high on the totem pole and how they love to throw their title around and act like it means something. Then we talked about the ones that are "really" high on the totem pole and the way they are. At least within my company, they are the coolest people! They never boast about their title. You might catch a glimpse of their lifestyle when they talk about different things, like flying first class, their penthouse in New York, and their kids on vacation in France while they're on business, but still, the overall attitude is humble. I love that.

Because honestly, people, it means nothing. God won't care if we are the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, or the janitor at a public school. All he cares about is the service we provide to him during our very short time here on earth, the love we show towards his ministers by providing open homes and caring for them, the way we nurture our spouses and children, and the way we conduct ourselves as good "neighbors".

The girls and the house.

Pics of the girls I thought you would enjoy...

More pics of the house below:
I will post more later. This is the living room, Terry, Calista, and Noah hanging out.

Update!

Kawena's Birthday!!!! June 18th, 3 years ago. What a wonderful journey down memory lane. Kawena made her grand entry in to this world at Wahiawa General Hospital (yes, Wahiawa), at 8:31 pm. It was an amazing, wonderful experience, thanks to my wonderful husband who coached me through being induced and refusing drugs--what the hec* was I thinking?!--
Three years later, and Kawena has added so much comedy to our little family. She has an unmatchable attitude, amazing spirit, and teaches me how to be patient.

The girls enjoyed an evening down at my work for a Lu'au. From L to R--Julia (Calista's friend), Calista, Maya (Co-workers daughter), and Kawena. They had a splendid evening, swimming in the pool, playing follow the leader, and eating about 100 chicken nuggets each. Fun times!!

Whew!

Wow, what a beginning to this very long week! Here's what has happened so far:
  1. Calista came down with Strep Throat (poor little thing, she was complaining about it for a couple days, and me, being the neglectful mother that I am, had her wait until Monday for a Doctors appoinment).
  2. Our puppies contracted Parvo and are at the Vet Hospital (getting better).
  3. I am in training at work building the system we will be using for, hmm, EVERYTHING, while still managing to do my normal daily tasks. Talk about draining training. But at least I have fun with the people I am sitting in a cramped room with all day! :)

Is it Friday yet? :(

Aren't they DARLING?!

Kawena at Cali's Ho'olaule'a...she has the SHAKA down, and even chants "I Ku Mau Mau, I KUA!"

Calista at this year's Ho'olaule'a...she was front row performer, and was wonderful--I'm trying to upload the video for you to enjoy.

Good Morning! It's Wednesday!!

Hali'i Kai--my place of work, an office on the ocean. How LUCKY am I? Doesn't mean I wouldn't rather be home with my Keiki, but at least I love where I work, the people I work with, and the view I get from my desk. When the whales are here, it's hard to get work done. The spot directly in front of my office is what we refer to as the "night club", which means they all love to gather, play, dance, and have fun. It also doubles as a birthing center (go figure), where little baby humpbacks are born, nurse, and then are taught to breach. It's absolutley amazing. I love this Island! :)

Have a wonderful day!
